Classic Car of the Week: Lincoln Premiere

I've got a bit of a thing for the wheels of the past. Something about the geometries of a boxy vintage motor, all glittering chrome and soft tops, which never fails to slap a smile on my face. Hence why I'm penning this new weekly feature: Classic Car of the Week and we are starting as we mean to go on this week by featuring the stunning 1957 Lincoln Premiere.

More after the jump...

First manufactured in 1956, the Lincoln Premiere retailed at an average price of $5280, model depending. The Premiere was one of the first Lincoln models to feature the 'Landau' hardtop and some were even fitted with overhead airline style air conditioning units. Back then, long meant luxury and, at a whopping 5.7m in length, the Lincoln Premiere certainly ticked that box when you consider that the average modern family car is around 4.5m. But if that wasn't enough the Premiere came standard with high quality cloth and leather upholstery, power windows and power seats, chrome and full length stainless steel moldings, plus power steering and power brakes.

The 1957 Lincoln Premiere was also the last Lincoln convertible which would not bear the 'Continental' designation.
